Taste of the Okanagan's most traditional salsa was developed in 2003 when the Okanagan Mountain fire was burning and one of their local growers, although under an evacuation order, was allowed back to her farm to see if she could salvage her tomato crop. She called me and said, “you’re not gonna want these charred tomatoes” but we put them in a pot and the result was a smoky salsa that we thought would be a “limited edition” creation. Every year we get hungry customers who want more, so now we smoke those tomatoes ourselves and cross our fingers the fires stay away from our beautiful valley.

Founded in 1995, Taste of the Okanagan Specialty Foods Inc, is a family run business based in Kelowna, BC, the heart of the Okanagan Valley. They make salsas, chutneys, sauces, dips, salad dressings and more the old fashioned way, by hand, in small batches so they can ensure flavour, quality and most of all… TASTE! They use the finest fruits, berries and veggies grown in the Okanagan Valley, picked at their freshest. They don’t put “JUNK” in their jars! They use no preservatives, no additives and no food colourings, so their taste is home grown, just like Grandma used to make when she was in the kitchen instead of on the Golf Course.
